Volunteer at natIgnite 2026!

natIgnite 2026 is a 40-hour event that matches innovators with Problem Providers to accelerate solutions to aging and caregiving challenges.

We’re currently looking for volunteers help keep the event running smoothly by supporting logistics, assisting participants, and coordinating activities on-site.

Event Dates

  • May 4: Hacker Orientation Day

  • May 8–10: Hackathon Weekend

Volunteers make natIgnite possible.

Explore the roles you might take on during the event below.

    • Provide tech help for participants using biosensing hardware (training provided)

    • Help manage equipment check-outs, troubleshooting and address any hardware-related issues during the event.

    • Working on live streaming 

    • Helping with Videography, Photography and Audio Mixing

    • Stay on top of discord messages in the NeurAlbertaTech/natIgnite server.

    • Remove offensive messages (if applicable)

    • Respond to questions in a timely manner. 

    • Contact an organizer if an issue / hard to answer question arises.

    • Help moderate the live events (moderate chat, help the AV team where appropriate)

    • Helping run small-scale events/booths (such as gaming session or workshops occurring during natIgnite)

    • Help with event setup and teardown.

    • Take attendance if necessary.

    • Serve as a general event assistant, helping with various tasks as needed.

    • Provide support to other volunteers and assist with event logistics.

    • Track presentation times during judging

    • Ensure sessions stay on schedule

    • Assist with transporting materials between University of Alberta (ETLC) and Edmonton Unlimited

    • Help set up and pack down event spaces

    • Welcome attendees and provide event info

    • Confirm waivers are signed and help with check-in

    • Distribute materials or emergency plans if needed

    • Assemble swag bags before the event (T-shirts, stickers, etc.)

    • Organize and distribute swag during check-in

    • Help participants navigate the venue and campus

    • Direct people to key areas like restrooms and exits

    • Keep common areas tidy and surfaces sanitized

    • Support food service with setup and cleanup

    • Set up and distribute meals, snacks, and drinks

    • Keep refreshment areas organized
